Your mission is too important to be derailed by conflict, burnout, or a broken culture.

I partner with nonprofit leaders, higher education teams, and mission-driven organizations to move from dysfunction and urgency culture to cohesive, equitable cultures where people stop burning out and start doing their best work.

I focus on three interconnected pillars to help you cultivate environments where people actually want to show up.

🌿 Rooted in Restoration

Healing from urgency culture and building sustainable foundations through restorative justice practices.

  • Restorative justice practices

  • Conflict resolution and repair

  • Building sustainable foundations

  • Deep work that creates lasting change

🌻 Cultivating Joy

Centering joy as an operational strategy, not a reward for sustainable leadership.

  • Joy as resistance, not reward

  • Rest as a strategic necessity

  • Centering humanity over productivity

  • Sustainable leadership practices

🌳 Growing Community

Building networks of collective care, mutual support, and shared transformation.

  • Collective care over individual self-care

  • Building networks of mission-driven leaders

  • Cultivating Community gatherings

  • Leadership that’s ‘we’, not ‘I’

You're not failing. You're navigating something genuinely hard without the right support.

Your organization is full of people who care deeply, so why does it still feel this hard?

Mission-driven leaders and their teams are working harder than ever and still feeling stuck. The vision is clear, but the culture isn't catching up. You're managing conflict that keeps resurfacing, watching talented people burn out and leave, and trying to build equity-centered practices with systems that were never designed for that work.

→  Team conflict that resurfaces no matter how many conversations you've had

→  Staff burnout and turnover that disrupts continuity and depletes morale

→  Culture initiatives that look good on paper but don't shift anything real

→  Leadership that's reactive, not grounded — running on urgency instead of intention

Mission-driven leaders and their teams deserve cultures that are equitable, joyful, and built to last — not just survive.

I’ve worked inside mission-driven organizations long enough to know exactly where and why they get stuck.

I’m Stephanie, the Latina founder of Cultivating Joy Consulting. With over 10 years of experience in higher education, conflict resolution, systems thinking, and culturally responsive education, I’ve seen what happens when talented, mission-driven teams operate in an urgency culture with unaddressed conflict and systems that were never designed with equity in mind.

I also know what it looks like when that changes.

I founded CJC because I believe the organizations doing the most important work in our communities deserve consulting that goes beyond strategy decks and surface-level trainings. My approach is grounded in restorative justice, cultural humility, and the conviction that joy is not a luxury; it's the foundation of sustainable, effective leadership.

I work with nonprofit leaders, higher education teams, and mission-driven organizations who are ready to do the deeper work — and I stay with you long enough to make sure it actually lands.

Step 2. We Build Your Engagement Plan

You’re part of the process. We keep communication open and design a customized engagement tailored to your organization's context, culture, and goals. No cookie-cutter frameworks or no one-size-fits-all solutions.

Step 3. Your Team Moves From Stuck to Thriving

We do the work together, and I stay with you long enough to make sure the change actually lands, not just on paper but in how your team shows up every day.

Imagine leading an organization where people actually want to show up.

Here's what's possible when the culture catches up to the mission:

✦  Conflict gets named and addressed — before it becomes a crisis

✦  Staff retention improves because people feel seen, valued, and supported

✦  Leadership feels grounded and intentional, not reactive and exhausted

✦  Equity isn't just a value on a wall — it's embedded in how decisions get made

✦  Your team does its best work because the culture is finally built to hold it

But here's what stays true if nothing changes:

The organizations doing the most important work deserve better than this. And so do the people inside them.

→  Your best people keep leaving — and the ones who stay are running on empty

→  Conflict stays underground until it erupts, again and again

→  Culture initiatives get launched, celebrated, and quietly abandoned

→  Leaders keep carrying what should be shared — and burning out under the weight

→  The mission suffers because the team doesn't have what it needs to do the work

You don’t have to navigate this alone.

Let’s talk about what’s possible for your organization.
